Dear Fellow Resident,
Tomorrow, July 4th, we celebrate the 249th anniversary of our nation’s independence, a remarkable milestone in America’s story. This holiday commemorates the birth of the United States, marked by the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Drafted by our founding fathers, this visionary document laid the foundation for a bold new nation built on a simple yet powerful ideal: that all people are “endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.”
That vision has endured for two and a half centuries, tested, refined, and strengthened by each generation. It remains the cornerstone of the American dream, and it continues to inspire us as we work toward a more perfect union.
Many of us will mark this occasion with time-honored traditions such as trips to the shore, backyard barbecues, parades, and fireworks with family and friends. As you celebrate, I encourage you to pause and reflect on the freedoms we are so fortunate to enjoy, and the responsibility we share in preserving them for future generations.
