About Us

The Office of the Registrar of Vital Statistics maintains and makes available all vital statistic records for the Township of Harrison. All births, deaths, marriages, civil unions and domestic partnerships occurring within the township are recorded by the Harrison Township Registrar of Vital Statistics thus, copies of any of the aforementioned documents may be obtained through this office.

How Can I Obtain a Birth Certificate

  • Requests for a birth certificate can be obtained in-person from the Municipal Registrar at the Harrison Township Municipal Building located at 114 Bridgeton Pike, Mullica Hill, NJ 08062 or mailed to 114 Bridgeton Pike, Mullica Hill, NJ 08062. Attention: Municipal Clerk.
  • Please note: Birth certificates will not be sent to you automatically after the time of birth and must be requested. Be advised the hospital may take up to three (3) weeks to prepare and release the record(s) after the time of birth. Please allow three (3) weeks from the time of birth to lapse before requesting a birth certificate.

What is Required for a Birth Certificate

For in-person requests:

  1. Application for a Vital Record Form (Can also be obtained from Registrar)
  2. Valid photo ID with address or two (2) different forms of alternate ID such as utility bills and/or bank statements with current address (Social Security cards not accepted)
  3. Payment method of cash or money order.

For mail-in requests:

  1. Application for a Vital Record Form. (Note: Must be completed fully and signed)
  2. Photo copy of valid photo ID with address or copy of two (2) different forms of alternate ID such as utility bills and/or bank statements with current address. (Social Security cards not accepted)
  3. Payment method of (cash or money order ONLY)

Cost of a Certified Copy

  • The cost of one certified copy of a birth certificate is $28.00. Any additional copies after that will just be $5.00 per additional copy. For example: If you request for (3) certified copies. Your total cost would be $38.00.
  • Cash or money order are the ONLY accepted forms of payment. Please note: All money orders must be written in the exact amount requested and made out to Harrison Township.

What if My Birth Certificate is Incorrect

Birth certificates with errors such as, but not limited to, spelling of names and addresses can be amended by the Municipal Registrar. You must contact the Municipal Clerk’s Office to discuss in detail the error(s). Please note: Amendments require State approval and can take up to week to be completed. Birth records that are awaiting State approval will be inaccessible for issuance until the amendment process is complete.

What if I want to Add Father to Birth Certificate

The father can be added to a birth record by the Municipal Registrar. You must call the Municipal Clerk’s Office to discuss the process. Please note: This process is done by appointment ONLY. No Walk-ins.

What about Social Security Cards

The Municipal Registrar DOES NOT track or issue Social Security cards. For more information or concerns regarding your child’s Social Security card, please contact:

How Can I Obtain a Marriage License

  • Marriage Licenses can be obtained from the Municipal Registrar at the Harrison Township Municipal Building located at 114 Bridgeton Pike, Mullica Hill, NJ 08062.
  • Marriage licenses are done by appointment ONLY. Please contact the Municipal Clerk’s office to setup an appointment.
  • Please note: In State residents MUST apply in the local municipality where either applicant residents (proof required). Out of State residents can apply in New Jersey, but MUST apply in the municipality where the ceremony will take place.
  • Be sure you and/or the other applicant resides in Harrison Township, Gloucester County, prior to setting up an appointment.

What is Required for the Appointment

  1. Application for a Marriage License. (Please note: The application can be completed ahead of appointment, however, the Oath section must be completed in front of Registrar)
  2. Witness (Must be at least 18 years of age or older and provide valid photo ID)
  3. Valid photo ID
  4. Payment of $28.00 in cash or money order (only). Money orders must be in the exact amount requested and made out to Harrison Township

What is Next After Applying for a Marriage License

  • Once the marriage application is completed and submitted through the Registrar, there will be a mandatory 72 hour waiting period from the date and time the application was submitted. Please note: The Registrar will not be able to issue the marriage licenses until the 72 hour period has lapsed.
  • After the 72 hour waiting period has lapsed. The Registrar will place a 30 day expiration date from the date and time the licenses are issued. Please note: The 30 days will include weekends and holidays. Failure to use the licenses within the 30 day period will result in an invalid license. In the event the licenses have become invalid, the couple will be required to go through the process of reapplying and paying the $28.00 fee.
  • Be advised marriage licenses will be held by the Registrar for six (6) months from the date and time the application is submitted. Failure to obtain your licenses within the six (6) months will result in an automatic void. In the event your licenses are voided, you will be required to go through the process of reapplying and paying the $28.00 fee.
