Dear Fellow Residents,
As we enter the unofficial start of fall, I’m reminded that this season is all about transitions. For many, it means children heading back to school or parents settling into steadier routines. With summer still fresh in our minds, fall can feel a little chaotic, but it also marks the return of something truly special here in Harrison Township, our vibrant seasonal events.
Fall is my favorite time of year, as there’s nothing quite like Main Street during the change of seasons. This is when I’m reminded why Harrison Township is such a special place, from the charm of our bustling shops to the joy of neighbors gathering along Main Street for seasonal events.
We kick off this year’s Fall events on September 20 with the Harrison Township Recreation Commission’s adults-only Drive-In Movie Night, featuring Couples Retreat, complete with food and fun. Meanwhile, kids can enjoy their own “Fun Night” at the Mullica Hill Art Studio. On September 27, it’s the Celebration on Main Annual Car Show, when Main Street comes alive with classic cars, food trucks, live entertainment, and festive sidewalk sales. A big thank-you to the Mullica Hill Business Association for hosting this family-favorite event!
October brings spooktacular fun with the Historical Society’s 23rd Annual Mullica Hill Ghost Walk on October 4. This guided tour explores the haunted history of the Hill, revealing eerie secrets and chilling tales hidden within our historic buildings. Proceeds support the Historical Society, and a special shout-out goes to blueplate restaurant for their many years of sponsorship.
The festivities continue October 11 and 12 with our 53rd Annual Fall Festival and Living History Weekend, hosted by Hazel Dilsalver’s (Farm House Design and Bella Grace Coffee) MH Events. The weekend features Civil War reenactments, live music, food trucks, and shopping on Main. Plus, the ever-popular Ghastly Tales Tours with Civil War stories and a nighttime cannon firing! On Saturday, October 11, the Recreation Commission’s beloved Build Your Own Scarecrow kits will be available, a creative favorite for all ages.
On October 16, the Mullica Hill Business Association invites families to enjoy Trick or Treat on Main Street, when children in costume collect sweets from our Main Street merchants while parents take in the festive atmosphere and maybe a little shopping. We close out the month on October 25 at Ella Harris Park with the Recreation Commission’s Trick or Trot Fun Run and Mile Walk, combining fitness and fun and the can’t miss Halloween BOOgie Walk, where families stroll through Halloween displays, collect treats, and this year enjoy a bounce house and corn maze!
The holiday season begins on Main St. with the Mullica Hill Business Association’s annual Merry Market, featuring artisan vendors, handmade gifts, delicious food, joyful carolers, and photos with Santa.
And of course, on November 29, Main Street shines for Lights on Main, our Best of Gloucester County award-winning holiday tradition that welcomes more than 10,000 visitors from across the region. With live music, children’s activities, unique merchant destinations, a pop-up crafters market, over 10 food trucks, and so much more, it truly is a spectacular celebration of our town and the season.
