Rowan University Professor Wade Catts will present a fascinating program on Fort Mercer and the Red Bank Battlefield. In addition to exploring the site’s Revolutionary War history, Professor Catts will share the incredible story behind the discovery of a mass burial site at Red Bank Battlefield Park in Gloucester County. Believed to contain the remains of Hessian soldiers killed during the 1777 attack on Fort Mercer, the find has sparked a multidisciplinary research effort. Catts will detail the battlefield’s significance, the archaeological process, and ongoing forensic analysis that continues to uncover new insights into this pivotal moment in American history.
