Dear Fellow Resident,
On Monday, May 26, our nation comes together to observe Memorial Day. While the weekend often marks the unofficial start of summer, with many heading to the shore or gathering for backyard barbecues, it is also a time to reflect on the true meaning of the holiday.
However you choose to spend the day, I encourage you to pause and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in defense of our freedoms. Their courage and sacrifice are the foundation of the liberties we enjoy, and we are forever in their debt.
A meaningful way to honor their memory is by joining our Veterans Commission’s annual Memorial Day Salute, a series of heartfelt tributes held throughout our community. I invite you and your family to join our Township Committee members at this year’s observance on Monday, May 26:
- 9:00 AM – Mullica Hill Baptist Church, 18 S. Main Street
- 9:15 AM – Old Town Hall (by the Christmas Tree), 62 S. Main Street
- 9:30 AM – William Wilt Memorial, 162 Walters Road
- 10:00 AM – Richwood United Methodist Church, 104 Richwood Road
In addition, you can honor a Veteran with a custom-engraved brick on our Veterans Memorial Walkway at the William Wilt Complex—affectionately known as Hero Lane. Click here to learn more.
Let us never lose sight of the extraordinary commitment made by those who serve, and especially by those who never returned home. On this day of remembrance, we honor their legacy with gratitude in our hearts.
On behalf of Deputy Mayor Lawrence Moore and Committeemen Jeff Jacques, Kevin French, and TJ Coakley, I wish you and your family a safe and Happy Memorial Day.
Warm regards,
Mayor Adam Wingate
