Events & Activities

Talk Saves Lives: An Introduction to Suicide Prevention

Tuesday, September 10, 7:00pm – 8:00pm
Location: Mullica Hill Library
Talk Saves Lives is an educational program that provides a clear understanding of the suicide epidemic. Participants will learn about the latest research on suicide prevention, including common risk factors and warning signs. The program also offers practical strategies to help individuals protect themselves and others. This initiative is provided by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Community Prayer & Reflection Service

Thursday, September 12, 7:00pm – 8:00pm
Location:  Trinity United Methodist Church
Gather with community faith leaders while they lead a time of reflection, prayer, and messages of strength and comfort. A time to remember and honor loved ones will be offered. All are welcome.

Wings of Life Poster Making

Friday, September 13, 2:30pm – 4:30pm
Location: Mullica Hill Library
All ages are invited to create a poster that inspires and educates. Posters will be displayed at Saturday’s Wings of Life Run/Walk event. Supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring your own.

Wings of Life 5K Run & 1 Mile Walk

Saturday, September 14, 9:00am
Location: Ella Harris Park
The 2nd Annual Wings of Life 5K Run & 1 Mile Walk is dedicated to uplifting the community and promoting mental wellness. The morning will kick-off with remarks from Mayor Manzo and Colin, a college student speaker with Minding Your Mind, a national non-profit who sends young adult speakers with lived experience struggling with, and recovery from, mental health issues to share their personal story.  The 5K Run costs $30 for adults and $15 for students aged 15 to 21. The 1 Mile Walk costs $20 for adults and $15 for students aged 15 to 21. Discounts are available when combined with registration for the Wings of Life Community Event.

Wings of Life Community Event

Saturday, September 14, 3:00pm – 7:00pm
Location: American Legion
Join friends and neighbors for the 2nd Annual Wings of Life Community Event! This family-friendly gathering features games, a delicious BBQ with our own Harrison Township Police Officers serving as the grill masters, and live music from LocastRoth, The Racket, Exit 2, and Camo Pants. The cost is $30, with discounts available when combined with Run/Walk registration.

These events are coordinated in collaboration with, or hosted by, the Paul Michael Donahue Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Their mission is to bring residents together during Harrison Strong Suicide Awareness Week, in recognition of an epidemic that impacts many families in our community.
