Local Robotics Team Takes First Place In Region

Leadership Messages

Dear Residents,

The Thunder Bots, a local robotics organization, took first place at the recent regional competition at Rowan University and will compete at the 2023 FIRST Lego League World Championship next month in Houston! The team, consisting of students ages 9 to 14, took top honors for the Robot Performance Award with an event-high score of 270 points, and won the Innovation Project Award for their idea that saves squirrels while preventing power outages.

“We are excited about the chance to compete at the world championship,” explained Michelle Krueger, who has two daughters from Mullica Hill on the team. “They worked very hard as a team to earn this opportunity.”

The Harrison Township Committee is asking for your support to help the Thunder Bots by donating to offset their travel costs. A donation of any amount would be greatly appreciated. Visit their GoFundMe page to show your support and help fund their trip! You can learn more about the team on their website.

Together for Harrison Township,

Deputy Mayor Julie DeLaurentis
