Important Vaccine update from Inspira Health

Early this morning, I received a phone call from our friend and Inspira President and CEO, Amy Mansue. Her sense of urgency was evident, as she is well aware of our attention to providing information and resources to our residents throughout the pandemic. Hence, she wanted to convey this message to all of you ASAP. Amy quickly explained that Inspira would begin a notification process today for all individuals who have already scheduled first vaccines at their facilities from January 23rd (tomorrow) to February 13th. These first vaccine appointments will need to be rescheduled for a date thereafter. This is to ensure that those who have already gotten their first dose, will receive their second dose, as planned. Again, this rescheduling ONLY applies to first dose recipients. Everyone who already received their first dose, will be scheduled for their second dose of the vaccine, as planned. Rather than paraphrase her words, I am providing you her statement below.

A Statement From Amy Mansue, President and CEO of Inspira:

“There has been an overwhelming response to COVID-19 vaccinations across the country from eligible members of the community, and vaccine supply is incredibly limited. Unfortunately, Inspira Health – like many other hospitals in the country – currently finds itself with more appointments than vaccines. To honor those appointments, it is necessary for us to reschedule first dose appointments and fulfill our existing appointments for second doses.

Effective this Saturday, January 23, Inspira is rescheduling all confirmed appointments for first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine at our hospital distribution sites in Mullica Hill and Vineland; those appointments will be rescheduled once we receive additional supply of the vaccine. Inspira will reach out to patients directly to be rescheduled in the chronological order in which they were originally scheduled, beginning January 23. In addition, we have recommended registering through the NJVSS (website here) should they have appointment availability prior to Inspira.

For those who already received their first dose from Inspira prior to Saturday, January 23, second doses will still be administered by Inspira.”

These are trying times and the vaccine rollout, though exciting and appreciated, has brought another layer of potential angst to this crisis. When will I get my vaccine? I ask you to be patient in these coming weeks as we expect the supply and distribution of the vaccine to expand.
