Whittington Family Gospel Singers

The sounds of spirituals and gospel music will fill the historic classroom at Richwood Academy as The Whittingtons of Port Norris, NJ, share this iconic musical tradition passed down through generations of their family.

The Whittingtons have appeared at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington, DC, and at the Down Jersey Folklife Center at WheatonArts, though they rarely perform publicly. This program at Richwood offers a special opportunity to experience their music and meet the family behind it.

This free, family-friendly event is presented with support from the Gloucester County Cultural and Heritage Commission at Rowan College of South Jersey, in partnership with the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the New Jersey Historical Commission/Department of State.
