Clearview Theater presents Disney’s Newsies JR., the inspiring story of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy who rallies fellow “newsies” from across New York City to strike against unfair conditions after a powerful newspaper publisher raises prices at their expense. As the movement grows, the newsies discover the strength of unity and the courage it takes to fight for what’s right.
Disney’s Newsies JR. is a high-energy, abbreviated version of the hit Broadway musical, based on the 1992 Disney film and the real-life Newsboys Strike of 1899. With a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman, and a book by Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein, this spirited production features beloved songs like “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” and “Santa Fe.”
