The Township of Harrison is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced individual to fill a full-time position within the Finance Department. This role is responsible for processing accounts payable, administering payroll and employee benefits, and assisting with pension-related reporting. The successful candidate must have prior experience using Edmunds software.
This position involves accurately processing accounts payable, including invoice entry, approvals, payments, and preparation of the bills list for Committee approval. The clerk will prepare and process semi-monthly payroll in compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations and will manage employee benefits such as health insurance administration, paid time off tracking, and benefit enrollments.
Responsibilities also include handling pension contributions, reporting, and related documentation; maintaining and updating employee records in accordance with internal policies and legal requirements; and responding to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits in a timely and professional manner. The position will also reconcile payroll-related accounts, assist with year-end reporting requirements such as W-2s, ACA reporting, and 1099 NEC/MISC filings, and collaborate with Human Resources and Finance staff to ensure accurate and efficient financial operations.
Qualified candidates must have proven experience in accounts payable, payroll, benefits administration, and bank account reconciliations, along with required proficiency in Edmunds software. A strong understanding of payroll laws and pension systems is essential, as is a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail. Excellent communication and organizational skills are required, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is expected. An associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
The Township offers a competitive salary range: $50,000–$80,000, along with health and dental insurance, pension plan participation, and paid time off, including holidays.
