The Mayor and Township Committee are pleased to announce that curbside yard-waste collection has come to Harrison Township. This has been a long awaited and much requested service. Yard waste collection is typically a labor intensive and cost prohibitive service. After years of research and analysis of the available programs, we decided on a predominately automated system. This system is designed to maximize manpower and efficiency, which in turn will mitigate cost to the township and to the taxpayers. As with any new program, there will always be a learning curve, but since this is a cart-based collection, it should be a relatively smooth transition. They are dark brown carts similar to your trash and recycling carts. The carts are available at the Public Works Building and you may call the Public Works Department at 223-1308 to pick up a cart or have one be delivered to you. Initially each “requesting” residence will be provided with one cart. After a period of time, more carts may be requested. Once you have your cart, you will put it out on the same day as your trash and recycling collection from May through November. See the below for the guidelines on using your new yard waste cart.
