An important message from Township Administration

It has come to our attention that there is some confusion concerning the rate of increase in your local tax bill over the last ten years, as we have fielded a number of questions about a ‘tripling’ of that amount.  This is absolutely NOT accurate.

Here are the facts:

  • Today (2017) our local tax rate is 42.5 cents per $100 of assessed value.  The average home value is $341,000.00, therefore paying $1,449.25 in local taxes.
  • In 2007, ten years ago, the local tax rate was 29.9 cents per $100 of assessed value.  Therefore, the same $341,000.00 home would have paid $1,019.59 back in 2007.

The difference is less than $430.00 annually over the last 10 years, which is far below ‘triple’.  And on average, less than $43/year (about $3.60/month) more being spent at the municipal level.

As the Administrative Leadership of the township, we both feel it is important that our residents be properly informed about all issues, especially concerning their tax dollars.  We will always be an accurate and reliable source for this information, according to the oaths that we both have sworn to when appointed as public employees.
